Frederick Thomas Horrocks, age 82, of Arnold, MI, passed away Friday evening, June 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on April 26, 1938 in Gwinn, MI, the son of Otis and Margaret (Duhaime) Horrocks. Frederick was raised in Gwinn and was a graduate of Gwinn High School. He began his working career with the Cleveland-Cliffs Mines in Ishpeming, MI before operating his own excavating and cement plant in Gwinn. He later was a partner in the sawmill business, Bill’s Mill, for 6 years. Frederick then worked for Linberg and Son’s Excavating and Enright Construction out of Marquette before buying his own semi and driving over the road from 1994 until 2010. He finished his working career at Enright Construction working with his son, Fritz, retiring at the age of 75. He married the former Wanda Jean Schroeder on October 15, 1969 and she preceded him in death on October 27, 2008. Together, the couple shared 39 years of marriage and raised 4 children, Debra, Kerry, Fritz, and Kenneth. Frederick greatly enjoyed the outdoors and everything the Upper Peninsula had to offer. He found joy in visiting lighthouses and picking rocks on the beach, camping with family, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his later years, he enjoyed coffee clutching at the Coffee Shack with his buddies in Arnold, feeding his birds, growing tomatoes, and watching Fritz and BillieJean grow and develop their hobby farm.
