Edward Pomeroy Obituary

Edward “Eddie/Ed” Pomeroy, age 72, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 in Gladstone, MI. He was born to Gilbert and Irene (Lamberg) Pomeroy in Escanaba, MI in 1950. He married Phyllis Grund in 1977 and settled in Chicago to raise a family.

It is hard to encompass who Eddie was in a few words. Those who knew him could see his heart immediately. He was kind, loving, and a friend to all. What he wanted most was for his family and friends to be happy in life. Eddie was also a huge sports fan. He rooted wholeheartedly for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Throughout the day you could be sure to hear him loudly yelling into his phone, “What is the score of the Cubs game?” often startling those around him. He was also a lover of nature and could spend hours gardening and working outdoors. Ed looked forward to hunting and fishing seasons every year. There was nothing better than a quiet day in the deer blind or on a boat. However, Eddie’s biggest passion was his family. He adopted the role of patriarch and did that role proud. He would help whomever needed it in whatever capacity he could. He was never happier than when he was with his family. Whether a casual visit or big party, he lit up the room with his smile, laughter, jokes and stories.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Phyllis Pomeroy; his children, Anthony Pomeroy (Kelly King) and Stacey Nyman (Scott); his mother, Irene Pomeroy; his grandchildren, Sophie, Ethan, Jake, Griffin, Adam, and Britta; his siblings, Marvel Pomeroy, Alana Krieg (Chuck), Steven Pomeroy (Libby), Keith Pomeroy (Cindy), Gregory Pomeroy (Linda), and Carol Pomeroy (Mark Jakovic); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. A luncheon will be held at the conclusion of the services in the Anderson Funeral Home Reception Room.
