Dorothy A. Sahn

Dorothy A. Sahn, age 91, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday morning, May 25, 2023 at her home. She was born the youngest of 11 children on October 2, 1931 in Kingsford, MI, the daughter of Carl and Marie (Kaulfuerst) Weinert. Dorothy was raised and attended school in Kingsford and went on to receive her nurse’s training as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She began her working career at OSF while raising her family and later worked at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers for 22 years until her retirement in 1996. Dorothy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River and also a member of the Senior Companion Program, being voted Volunteer of the Year twice. She enjoyed playing cribbage and scrabble, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by sons, Clinton (Bobbie) Sahn of Oak Creek, WI, Clyde (Ellen) Sahn of Manitowoc, WI, and Craig Sahn of Escanaba; daughters, Carol Sahn of Escanaba, Donna (Bill) Buckley of Buford, GA, Diane Williams of Escanaba, and Linda (Tom) Barron of Flat Rock; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant son, Clement John Sahn on December 27, 1960; and her 10 siblings.

Private graveside services will be held at the Bark River Cemetery with Pastor Lewis Hague officiating.
