Doris M. Lessard, age 88, of 1019 Minnesota Avenue in Gladstone, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at U.P. Health System- Marquette. She was born March 25, 1932 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of Joseph and Nettie (Blackstock) Tanner. Doris relocated to Escanaba and married Lloyd Lessard on March 3, 1956 at Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Together, the couple shared 64 years of marriage. Doris was employed by Elmer’s Restaurant in Escanaba for many years as a hostess. She was an avid bowler and would compete in tournaments all over the Upper Peninsula. Doris was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Gladstone American Legion Post 71 Auxiliary.
Doris M. Lessard is survived by her husband, Lloyd Lessard of Gladstone; daughter, Linda Destrampe; granddaughter, Tina; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by 4 brothers, and 1 sister.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Doris will follow at 12:00 p.m., Monday, with Rev. Cathy Rafferty officiating. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
