Donna Jean Sirtola

Donna Jean Sirtola, age 88, of Rock passed away Monday, August 26, 2024 at her home in Rock. She was born August 8, 1936 in Detroit, MI and was the daughter of George and Edna (Game) Joslyn. The former Donna Jean Joslyn married Arnold R. “Arnie” Sirtola on December 31, 1956 and the couple shared 65 years of marriage.  Arnie preceded her in death on January 21, 2022. Donna and Arnie moved to Rock in 1973. Donna was elected Ewing Township Treasurer in November of 1988 and served as treasurer for almost 36 years. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, riding her bike, crocheting, and quilting. Donna made quilts that were crocheted lap blankets for patients at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI. She also made all the garland that was put up at Christmas time on Ludington Street in Escanaba and Delta Avenue in Gladstone.

Donna is survived by several nieces and nephews including Matt, Danny, and Jennifer Sirtola; many friends, including Cindy and Frank Haas and Aaron Pintor who helped Donna live in her home in her later years.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son Richard “Rich” Sirtola on December 26, 2010 and brother Harold Joslyn.

Funeral services for Donna Jean Sirtola will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the Rock Cemetery by the Rock American Legion Auxiliary. Burial will follow in the Rock Cemetery.
