Donald Caron, Sr. Obituary

Donald Michael Caron, Sr. of Escanaba, MI, age 69, passed away in the comfort of his home, on the morning of July 16, 2025, following a brief illness.

Don was born in Escanaba, to Herb and Rita (VanEffen) Caron on August 14, 1955. He was a 1973 graduate of Escanaba High School and a lifelong resident of the area.

Don was a charismatic man and was genuinely a “good guy.” He possessed many talents in construction and craftsmanship, enjoyed collecting coins, and loved when he could pursue his true passion—playing the drums. Don played in numerous local bands over the years. He also enjoyed rooting for the Minnesota Vikings

Don was able to join the Amvets Post 123 in Escanaba through The Sons of Amvets. He took great pride in this commitment and was honored to support and advocate for his community.

Beyond anything else, Don cherished his time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. When they played Eskymo sports, Don became a diehard fan and loved every opportunity to cheer them on.

Don is survived by his children, Donny Caron of Escanaba and Deanna (Rick) Boucher of Wells; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Marcus Caron and their mother Vicki Caron, and Macie Boucher; siblings Sherri Swanson, James (Sharon) Caron, Tracy (Jamie) Bruce, Ray Caron, Jean (Randy) Maleug; numerous nieces and nephews; canine companion, Josie; and mother of his children, Donna Caron.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Caron.
