David Leonard Johnson

David Leonard Johnson, 67, of Escanaba, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at his home in Escanaba. He was born August 15, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son of Leonard and Joan (Kositzky) Johnson. Dave grew up in Wells, Michigan and graduated from Escanaba High School. He proudly carried on his family's legacy as a second-generation employee at the Escanaba Paper Mill, where he worked for 44 years until his retirement. Dave was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

He will be deeply missed by his children Jason (Courtney) Johnson of Escanaba, Ashley (Adam) Haffley of Appleton, WI, and Katie (John) Venturino of Appleton, WI; his cherished grandchildren Adalyn and Jacob Haffley; his sister Carol (Stephen) Pellegrini of Escanaba; Nephew Nicholas (Jenilee) Pellegrini; and niece Traci (Michael) Busick.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Joan Johnson.

Known for his love of old cars, enjoying a cold beer with his family and friends, and taking scenic drives out to Stonington, Dave especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren.  He will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, and love of family.  

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday, October 3, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of David Leonard Johnson will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Vicar Sarah Sleeter officiating. Burial will take place at the Gardens of Rest following the service.
