David William Herbst

David William Herbst, Sr, age 84, of Escanaba passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. He was born June 15, 1940 in Escanaba and was the son of William and Katherine (Larange) Herbst. David graduated from Escanaba High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War for two years. Dave married the former Mary L. Schroder on September 2, 1972 at Salem Lutheran Church in Escanaba. He worked for Clairmont Transfer Company, as a truck driver, delivering in the Escanaba area. Dave enjoyed working in the woods, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

David is survived by wife Mary; son David Herbst, Jr.; daughter Helen Herbst and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Daniel Herbst in 1979.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Veteran’s Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the church, by the U.S. Army, followed by the funeral services with Rev. Paul Doletzky and Rev. Ronald Zindler officiating. A luncheon will be held following the services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
