David Michael Christianson, age 82, of Gladstone passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Aurora Health Center in Marinette, WI. He was born May 30, 1942 in Mason City, Iowa and at age 13 the family moved to St. Ignace, MI and Dave graduated from St. Ignace High School in 1961. Following high school, Dave started his career as an iron worker before serving in the U.S. Army from 1966, until he was honorably discharged in 1968. As an iron worker, Dave worked on many large projects such as the International Bridge connecting Sault Ste Marie, MI to Sault Ste Marie, Canada, and Harbor Tower in Escanaba. In 1980, Dave moved to Escanaba and purchased Northwest Sales, a vending and magazine distribution company. He later started Bay View Furniture Stripping in Bay View. Dave enjoyed playing cribbage, NASCAR Racing, traveling, riding down the back roads in a convertible and collecting exotic wood which he would turn into beautiful wood bowls. Dave had three loves in life. He loved hard work, he loved his property and the things he built, and he loved his wife, Kathy! Dave was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he married his wife, Kathy, on June 20, 1998.
Dave is survived by his wife Kathy; daughter Shalimar (Kyle) Cavanaugh and granddaughter Finley Quinn Cavanaugh of Charleston, West Virginia; step children Tammy (Dr. Michael) Karkkainen, Menominee, MI, Tim (Kathy) Sovey of Wallace, MI, Tina Koish of Rapid River, MI, Rae (Joe) Andreni of Appleton, WI, and Beckey (Paul) Savard of Gladstone and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Julie (John) Stivers of Grand Rapids, MI and Diane Christianson of Grand Rapids, MI.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of David Christianson will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Janice Reed officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army at the conclusion of the funeral services. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship hall.
