Darlene Ann Bichler

Darlene Ann Bichler, 91, of Escanaba, entered into eternal life on Saturday, September 19, 2020. She was born Darlene Ann Cholette on February 12, 1929 to Eva Cholette. Darlene was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Escanaba. She graduated from Escanaba Area High School in 1947. On April 6, 1948, she married Donald Henry Bichler. Together they raised 7 children.

In life, Darlene loved to spend time with family and friends. She loved to have fun, laugh, and was always there if you needed a compassionate, listening ear. Holidays were a special time to entertain. She joined many clubs and was active in ceramics and community events. Darlene loved to shop and travel.  She and her husband, Don, traveled abroad many times. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed the latest styles for her children.

Darlene is survived by her children, Sherry (Rick) Henderson, Chris Truitt, Kim (Cliff) Arntzen, Laurie (John) Gallagher, John Bichler, and Dianne (Ken) Pekarek; grandchildren, Rick and Todd Henderson, Sandi Young, Anne and Ginny Truitt, Heidi and Nathan Bichler, Danielle Gallagher, Patti Brayak, John Bichler, Stephanie Green, Mike Van Effen, and Ken and Kimberly Pekarek; 21 greatgrandchildren; 3 great-greatgrandchildren; brother-in-law, Bob (Marge) Bichler; and sisters-in-law, Joan (Tom) Fugere, and Connie (Leigh) Schmidt.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Don Bichler; and son Donn Bichler.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, with Father Fran DeGroot officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.
