Clifford Wayne Walimaa, age 84, of Rock, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at his home in Rock. He was born April 27, 1936 in Escanaba, MI, the son of George and Marion (Honkonen) Walimaa. Clifford grew up in Rock, MI. Clifford’s mother, Marion, died when Clifford was 9 years old and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Edwin and Gertrude Walimaa. Clifford graduated from high school and then served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as a missile mechanic being stationed in England. After Clifford was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, he was employed at the Chrysler Corporation Missile Division Plant, in Detroit, MI. When the missile plant closed, Clifford worked many different jobs, always looking forward to his retirement to his hometown of Rock. He was a member of the Rock American Legion Post #559 and the Rock Senior Center. Clifford enjoyed his morning coffee group and helping around the Rock Senior Center. An amateur photographer, Clifford loved to share his pictures.
Clifford Wayne Walimaa is survived by his cousins, Edsel Walimaa and Judy Naumoff. He had a life-long friendship with Jerry Salmi and his many friends in Rock.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Rock American Legion Services for Clifford Wayne Walimaa will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Rock Cemetery in Rock, MI. A luncheon will follow the services in Rock.
