Clifford J. Moore, age 96, of Escanaba, currently residing in New Port Richey, FL, passed away and joined his loving wife on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his home in New Port Richey. He was born on March 21, 1926 in Escanaba, the son of Roy and Marie (DuBord) Moore. Clifford was raised in Escanaba and was a graduate of Escanaba High School. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country during WWII until he was honorably discharged. Clifford married the former Arlean P. Robinson on July 27, 1946 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2022. Together, the couple shared 76 years of marriage. Clifford was employed with the City of Escanaba as a fireman. During this time, he also worked for Polly Cheese Company and did drywalling and painting of houses for State Wide Real Estate. After the City of Escanaba combine the fire and police department, Clifford spent his last three years of his career with Escanaba Public Safety until his retirement in 1978. Following his retirement, he purchased Art DeCamp Drywall and Painting Company working various jobs throughout the area. Clifford greatly enjoyed the outdoors – especially hunting and fishing. He also looked forward to going to his hunting camp in Helps, MI.
Clifford is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Lewis) Clayton; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Clifford was preceded in death by son, Jerald Clifford Moore; and two sisters, Delores Reedi and Irene Provo.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Clifford will follow at 1:00 p.m., Friday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Christine Bergquist officiating. Burial will take place in the Foster City Cemetery.
