Christian Miller Jensen, Jr.

Christian Miller Jensen, Jr., age 89, of Wells, passed away Friday evening, May 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 20, 1930 in Arnold, MI, the son of Christian Miller Jensen, Sr. and Caroline “Lena” (Peterson) Jensen. Christian was raised in Arnold and attended school in Gwinn where he was a 1948 graduate of Gwinn High School. Following graduation, Christian enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country until he was honorably discharged. He sailed with the ore boats for many years on the Great Lakes and later was employed with the ELS Railroad until his retirement in 1990. Christian married the former Laurel Lewis on July 7, 1962 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Together, the couple shared nearly 58 years of marriage and raised 4 children, Brian, Jill, Jennifer, and Paul. Christian was a long-time member of the Escanaba VFW Post 2998. He loved playing cards and going to the casino. Christian enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing, and spending time with his family. “Remember the last time you saw him – it should bring a smile.”

Christian is survived by his wife, Laurel Jensen of Wells; children, Brian (Christina) Jensen of Melrose, IA, Jill (Aaron) Keener of Clarksville, TN, Jennifer Jensen of Hollywood, FL, and Paul (Lori) Jensen of Tecumseh, MI; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Christian was preceded in death by his siblings, Genevieve Hurkman, Dorothy Usher, Eileen Boerschinger, Russell Jensen, and Donald Jensen.

Private family graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Gardens of Rest Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Gauger officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Delta County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials please be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance.
