Carol Jeanne Peterson

Carol Jeanne Peterson, age 83, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday morning, July 3, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 13, 1938 in Assinins, MI, the daughter of Clifford and Seraphine (Papin) Bressette. Carol was raised in Marquette and was a graduate of Graveraet High School. On April 5, 1958, Carol was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Peterson at St. Michael Catholic Church in Marquette and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2017. Together, the couple shared 59 years of marriage and raised 3 children. Carol and her family lived in Marquette until Ken’s job transferred them to Charlevoix, MI. After 2 years, he then accepted a position in Escanaba. Carol was a volunteer at OSF St. Francis Hospital for several years and also a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba. For many years, Carol was a daycare provider at Little Friends – the babies were her favorite. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ken, to many different states and visiting various casinos. Carol also enjoyed bowling, boating, going on daily walks, and taking care of her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they meant the world to her.

Carol is survived by children, Ken (Karen) Peterson, Jr. of Escanaba, Janet (Perry) Sebero of Escanaba, and Kathy (Andy) Johnson of Sturgeon Bay, WI; 6 grandchildren, Samantha Peterson, Kevin Peterson, Rachel (Dejian) Dean, Kendall (Chris) Boyle, Scott Bartley, and Troy (Stephanie) Jorgenson; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike (Carol) Bressette of Negaunee, MI; sisters, Kathy Peterson of Marquette, MI, and Linda Bressette of Marquette, MI, brother-in-law, Phil (Barb) Peterson of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by siblings, Sandra Carlson, Gloria Finnerty, Geraldine Bess, Cheryl Bressette, Donald Bressette, Pauline Beauchamp, Wayne Bressette, Allen Bressette, Keith Bressette, and Glen Bressette.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Carol will follow at 4:00 p.m., Friday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Fran DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services in the St. Anne Catholic Church fellowship hall. Burial will take place next to her husband, Ken, in the Bark River Cemetery.
