Carol Jean Elizabeth Flaminio, age 75, of Gladstone, passed away Friday morning, October 9, 2020 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba. She was born on February 17, 1945 in Ishpeming, MI, the daughter of Tobias Johnson and Lydia Lindberg. Carol was raised on the family farm in Rock and was a graduate of Negaunee High School. For many years, Carol lived in the Escanaba and Gladstone area. She was very proud of her Finnish heritage. Carol’s grandparent’s immigrated from Finland and her father and uncles worked in the mines in the Copper Country and Marquette County. She loved to cook and bake for her children and they were always the first to sample them. Carol loved cats, playing board games, and her favorite song was “You Are My Sunshine.”
Carol Flaminio is survived by her children, Juanita (Jac) Anderson of Garden, Wanda (Fred) Besenhoffer, Pam Svoboda, and Jerry Campbell; grandchildren, Arielle Anderson (Nick Smith) of Escanaba, Elysia, Erik, Elizabeth, James, Tyler, Dakota, and Montana; one great-granddaughter, Regan; sister, Dorothy Bonnell-Tracy; brother, Ralph Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
A private service for Carol’s loved ones will be held later in 2021.
