Callie Diane Jefferson, of Howell, Michigan, passed away on May 9, 2025. She was born in
Detroit on July 2, 1946.
Married on June 6, 1987, she leaves behind her loving husband, Louis Jefferson. She also leaves
behind her children Miranda (Erik) Heemsoth and Ronald Olson, and grandchildren, Brady and
Quinn Heemsoth. She is predeceased by her daughters, Amy and Callie Olson, parents, Ronald
and Winola Baston, and her stepfather, John Henry.
Callie graduated from Rapid River High School in 1964 and went on to pursue higher education.
She attended Northern Michigan University before transferring to Eastern Michigan University,
where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She earned her Master's Degree in
Education from Marygrove College. Callie retired from Whitmore Lake High School.
Callie was a woman of many interests and talents. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life,
guiding her in all she did. She was a licensed pilot, an accomplished knitter and sewer, and a
gardener whose famous salsa was a much-anticipated gift among friends and family. Her love
for animals was profound, rescuing seven dogs throughout her life, each finding a special place
in her heart.
Her organizational skills were unmatched, earning her the affectionate title of 'queen organizer.'
Her fascination with history was evident in her love for genealogy and British Royalty. Her
travels to visit family in England were among her most cherished experiences, bridging her love
for history and family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2025, for a visitation from 12:00 pm until
2:00 pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel. 315 N. Michigan Ave. Howell,
MI 48843. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. There will be a graveside service held on
Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba, Michigan. 2110 3rd Ave South,
Escanaba, MI 49829, hosted by Anderson Funeral Homes.
