Brian “Buckshot” Nummilien, age 70, of McFarland, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021. He was born on January 5, 1951 in Escanaba, the son of Bruno and Helen (Kallio) Nummilien. Brian was raised and attended school in Rock and was a 1969 graduate of Rock High School. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard until 1973. Brian married the former Cindy Bark on March 27, 1971 at the Rock Bible Chapel in Rock. Together, the couple just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Brian was employed by Sawyer International Airport in Gwinn in their Crash and Rescue Department until his retirement in 2019. He greatly enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer, especially going to camp “Buck Shot Ridge” and hunting with friends and family.
Brian is survived by his wife, Cindy Nummilien of Rock; daughters, Becky Jo Nummilien of Brampton, and Buffy Joy (Daniel) Amberg of McFarland; 6 grandchildren, Eric Bourdeau, Niika McNutt, Karley Prater, Kora Prater, Jamie Lehrke, and Taylor Vold; 1 great-grandchild, Logan; siblings, Sandra Beauchamp of Rock, Sherri Koth of Rock, Bruce (Mari) Nummelin of Stevens Point, WI, Brent Nummilien of Rock, and Bernard “Benny” (Terry) Nummilien of Rock; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his brother, Brand Nummilien; and sister, Susie Connors.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Brian will follow at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Archie Johnson officiating. A luncheon and bonfire will follow at camp located at the end of Mud Creek Lane.
