Betty Lundin Obituary

Betty Delight Lundin, age 94, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday morning, August 11, 2022 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born on August 5, 1928 in Escanaba, the daughter of Ernest and Edith (Peterson) Erickson. Betty had many roles in her life living in Escanaba. Betty was a daughter, mother, spouse, piano teacher, church organist, water aerobics fanatic, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a devout Catholic. She was a church organist for many years, serving at St. Anne, St. Joseph, St. Patrick, and First Presbyterian Church.  She most likely played the organ in every Catholic Church in Delta County for a funeral or wedding. As a piano teacher over four decades, Betty gave more than 40,000 piano lessons and was involved with the epic monster concerts organized the Delta County Keyboard Guild of which she was a founding member. Betty loved the YMCA of Escanaba and was an original water aerobics member. After retiring from teaching, Betty loved going to the camp on the Escanaba River. She enjoyed the campfires, trout fishing, and her walks in the woods. Betty was an active member of the Delta County Historical Society. She was the original pump organist for the lighthouse tours during the Christmas season.

Betty is survived by her children, Richard and Anna Lundin, David and Wilhelmina Lundin, Eric and Cindy Lundin, and Paul and Elaine Lundin; she is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Edith Erickson; her daughter, Margaret; and husband, Richard.

The Lundin family would like to extend their gratitude to Marlene Nelsen, Debra Kozar, Rick Pomazal and Jennifer Fitzpatrick for watching over Betty late in her life.
