Benny Reed Obituary

Benny Leon Reed, Sr., age 76, of Hermansville, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at home surrounded by family. He was born on October 20, 1944 in Sterling, IL. Benny lived in Arkansas while he was growing up and attended school. He started his working career with a tow truck before becoming and over-the-road truck driver for 48 years. He drove all throughout the United States and was employed by Landstar Trucking Company for the last 28 years until his retirement in March of 2021. Benny married the former Linda Coulliard in 1971 in Chicago, IL. Together, the couple shared 50 years of marriage and were together for 54 years. Benny enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing the guitar with his brother and friends.

Benny L. Reed, Sr. is survived by his wife, Linda Reed of Hermansville; children, Linda Little (Andy Gernon) of Donovan, IL, Benny L. Reed, Jr. of Green Bay, WI, Nina Moore of Marion, IL, and Robert “Robbie” Reed of Winchester, TN; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Reed; sister, Betty Robinson; and brothers, Noel Reed and William “Bill” Reed.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CST), Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Hermansville Sportsmans Club.
