Barbara A. Gosselin, 87, of 324 South 18th St in Escanaba, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 18, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born on January 20, 1931 in Escanaba, the daughter of Rene and Marie (DeHoohe) Derouin. Barb grew up in Escanaba and was a 1949 graduate of Escanaba High School. Following graduation, she began working at Ely’s Potato Chip Factory. The former Barbara A. Derouin married Edward A. Gosselin on August 20, 1955 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Escanaba and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2006. Together, the couple shared 50 years of marriage and raised two children. Ed and Barb owned and operated Skinny’s Bar in Escanaba during the 1960’s until she became a homemaker and cared for the family. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends. Barb was a member of Lake Superior Christian Church and later Central United Methodist Church.
Barbara A. Gosselin is survived by one son, Perry (Karen) Gosselin of Milwaukee, WI; one daughter, Sharon (Dave) Willette of Escanaba; four grandchildren, Rebecca Gosselin, Tyler Willette, Austin Willette, and Adam Willette; sisters, Marilyn Bosk of North Carolina, Helen Derouin of Powers, and Theresa (Bill) Druding of Rapid River; brother, Marvin (Kay) Derouin of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandson, Jacob Gosselin; and one sister, Shirley Dufour.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara will follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bo Lange officiating. A reception will be held at the conclusion of the services at Mo’s Pub in Escanaba. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
