Anna Irene (Lamberg) Pomeroy, age 97, of Escanaba passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born August 18, 1926 on the family farm in Ensign, MI and was the daughter of Albin and Emma (Tyberg) Lamberg. Irene attended grade school at the Stone Anderson School near her home. The former Anna Irene Lamberg married Gilbert “Gib” Pomeroy on July 26, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 20, 1982. Together they raised seven children; Marvel, Alana, Edward, Steven, Keith, Gregory, and Carol. Irene was a member of the Senior Companion program for over 30 years and enjoyed sewing, crafting, and baking. She was known for her wonderful cinnamon rolls and Swedish pancakes. Irene loved family and enjoyed family gatherings.
Anna Irene Pomeroy is survived by daughters Marvel Pomeroy of Arlington Heights, IL, Alana Krieg of Escanaba, and Carol (Mark) Pomeroy of Dodgeville, MI; sons Steven (Libby) Pomeroy of Iron River, MI, Keith (Cindy) Pomeroy of Escanaba and Gregory (Linda) Pomeroy of Forest Lake, MN; 16 grandchildren Tina, John, Lizzie, Diane, Tom, Nicole, Tony, Stacey, Shawn, Joshua, Jeremy, Michael, Kevin, Cathy, Richard, and Rebecca; 27 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-laws Marlene Lamberg of Ensign and Audrey Lamberg of Escanaba and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by son Edward “Eddie”, son-in-law Charles Krieg; grandson Stephen, brothers Edward, Bertil, Loyal, Sander and Robert Lamberg; sisters Elvera Pomeroy, Mabel Reams, Irma Pohlhammer, Norma Kelly and Elduraine.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Irene will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jason Janich officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services at the New Life fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Rapid River Cemetery.
