Andrew Arntzen Obituary

Andrew Hilding Arntzen, age 44, formerly of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at his home in Houston, TX. He was born August 8, 1975 in Escanaba, MI, the son of Norman G. and Greta M. (Johnson) Arntzen. Andy attended school in Escanaba and was known for his great sense of humor and a sweet smile. He ran track in high school, enjoyed his senior class trip to France, and graduated in the top ten in his class in 1994. He furthered his education at the University of Michigan where he received his Bachelor’s Degree, concentrating in accounting and economics. He then went on to receive his Masters of Accounting Degree from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. Andy began his professional career at Wright, Griffin, Davis, CPA’s in Ann Arbor as an Associate of audit and tax, then worked for BDO in Troy, MI before starting Andrew Arntzen, CPA Services. He later worked for Jefferson Wells, Inc. in Milwaukee as an internal audit professional, and then with Kohl’s Corporation in Menominee Falls, WI as a senior internal auditor. Andy later moved to Houston, Texas. He enjoyed music, playing the piano, and was an avid University of Michigan and Green Bay Packers football fan. He loved going to the family cottage in Stonington, hunting at the camp in Helps, and spending time with his parents and family gatherings. He also was an avid runner and competed in marathons over the years. Politics was of great interest to Andy and was very active in many different political organizations.

Andrew Hilding Arntzen is survived by his parents, Norm and Greta Arntzen of Escanaba; step-siblings, Clifford (Kim) Arntzen of Cecil, WI, Glenn Arntzen of Milwaukee, WI, and Jan (Will) Frasher Schulte of Hillsborough, New Jersey, aunts and uncles, Arla Pearson of Gladstone, Dr. Mohammed (June) Rafiullah of Racine, WI, Karen (Greg) Meeks of Negaunee, and Keith (Linda) Sengstock of Friendship, WI; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Andrew will follow at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Meyette and Father Timothy Ferguson officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services in the Anderson Funeral Home Reception Room. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials please be directed to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (In honor of Andrew’s father) or a charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
