Alfred William” Bill” Stewart, age 79, of Rapid River, MI passed away Wednesday, July 01, 2026, at U.P. Health Systems- Marquette. He was born February 24, 1947, in Mt. Clemens, MI and was the son of Alfred and Dorothy (Knight) Stewart. Bill graduated from Mt. Clemens High School and then married the former Karen Johnson on March 2, 1968 in Mt. Clemens, MI.
Bill spent 40 dedicated years as a skilled machinist with DME Manufacturing in Mt. Clemens before retiring in 2006. In 2007, he and Karen followed their hearts northward, settling in the beautiful Rapid River area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where they built a life surrounded by the woods and waters they both cherished.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening and camping.
Bill is survived by his wife Karen; daughter Aliesha (Dennis) Innis of Hermansville, MI; grandchildren Chelsea (Nick) Visga and Joshua (Dallas) Innis; brother Robert Stewart and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jason Janich officiating. Burial will take place in the Rapid River Cemetery.
