Alexander Lamberg Obituary

Alexander “Sandy” Lamberg, age 87, of 9547 AA.5 Lane in Rapid River (Ensign), passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 10, 2020 at home surrounded by family. He was born on March 14, 1933 on the family farm in Ensign, MI, the son of Albin and Emma (Tyberg) Lamberg. Sandy was raised in Ensign and attended grade school at the Ensign School House. He then attended Rapid River High School until his senior year when he went to work on the family farm and in the woods. In 1952, Sandy enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He married the former Marlene Artley on June 26, 1954 at First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Together, the couple shared nearly 66 years of marriage and raised 4 children, Lori, Brian, Julie, and Loran. Sandy and Marlene relocated to Evanston, IL where he began his working career in concrete construction. He later moved into the plumbing trades and started his own company, Evanston Plumbing and Heating. Sandy ran his business from 1970 until his retirement in 1996. Upon retiring, Sandy and Marlene moved back to the Upper Peninsula, settling in Ensign. Sandy was a member of both the Evanston American Legion Post 42 and the Rapid River American Legion Post 301. Last year, he was honored with his 50 Year Pin. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Gladstone Golf Club. Sandy enjoyed traveling and golf trips. He loved the outdoors, nature, and animals – especially feeding the deer, turkey, birds, and all wildlife. Family meant everything to him and he had a great love for them. Sandy greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Sandy Lamberg is survived by his wife, Marlene Lamberg of Ensign, MI; children, Lori (Humberto) Garcia of Chicago, IL, Brian (Anna) Lamberg of Evanston, IL, Julie (Michael) Maki of Gwinn, MI, and Loran (Laura) Lamberg of Wells, MI; 11 grandchildren, Gina, Leovy, Victor, Lisa, Andrew, Allison, Jefferson, Jeremy, Alex, Braeden, and Connor; 6 great-grandchildren, Leo, Mateo, Bryden, Liam, Emma, and Logan; brother, Edward Lamberg of Ensign, MI; sister, Irene Pomeroy of Escanaba; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sandy was preceded in death by his brothers, Loyal, Bertil, and Robert Lamberg; and sisters, Elvera Pomeroy, Mabel Reams, Irma Pohlhammer, Norma Kelly, and Elduraine Lamberg.
