Alexander G. Hamilton, also known as Sandy Houle, age 76, of 1628 Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone, passed away Sunday evening, September 29, 2019 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. He was born on January 14, 1943 in Detroit, MI, the son of William Henry and Blenda (Arntzen) Hamilton. Alexander was raised in Escanaba and was a 1961 graduate of Escanaba High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force at KI Sawyer in Gwinn for 4 years until he was honorably discharged. In 1965, he moved to the state of Washington where he was employed by the U.S. Government with The Boeing Company as an experimental flight tester until 1970. Alexander also held his own private pilot’s license and performed private client transfers in Washington. He later returned back to his hometown of Escanaba. Alexander enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting in the fall, watching football, and wintering in Florida.
Alexander G. Hamilton is survived by the love of his life, Vicki Stone of Gladstone; daughter, Michelle Freeland of Minneapolis, MN; son, Steve Hamilton of Minneapolis, MN; brother, William (Joan) Houle of Rapid River; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Alexander was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Banilla in 2008; and brother, Walter Houle.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military Honors will be conducted during the visitation at 3:00 p.m. by the Delta County Veterans Council. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Van Kley officiating. Burial and will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials please be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance.
