William Sheedlo Obituary

William E. Sheedlo, age 92, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI. He was born on July 14, 1927 in Escanaba, the son of John and Signe (Buckland) Sheedlo. Bill was raised in Escanaba and attended Escanaba High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served his country as a CB in Guam until he was honorably discharged. William married the former Marilyn Eis on November 16, 1946 in Escanaba and she preceded him in death on January 15, 2010. Together, the couple shared 63 years of marriage and raised 5 children. Bill worked for the City of Escanaba at the gas plant for a few years until he was employed by Harnischfeger Corporation as a machinist until his retirement in 1983. He then worked at Bridgewood in their maintenance department for several years. Bill enjoyed bowling in his younger years, taught himself how to play the guitar, and found joy in woodworking – he was so talented he built his own house. In his early years, Bill was active at Calvary Baptist Church and was instrumental in building the church. He was an animal lover, especially for his 2 dogs, where he spent every day for 25 years at a specific bench in Ludington Park on Aronson Island with Benji and Bailey.

William E. Sheedlo is survived by 2 sons, Bill (Bonnie) Sheedlo of Racine, WI, and Jeff (Joyce) Sheedlo of Escanaba; 3 daughters, Diane (William) Wickham of Rapid River, Barbara (Daniel) Stiglitz of Escanaba, and Janis (Dave) Vallier of Schaffer, MI; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Maxine (John) Jaeger of Escanaba, and Patricia Nelson of Green Bay, WI; as well as several nieces and nephews.
