Sheila Faye Holmes

Sheila Faye Holmes, age 69, of 37451 County Road 426 in Cornell (Arnold), passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at her home in Arnold. She was born on February 24, 1950 in Marquette, MI, the daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth (McMaster) Whitelaw. Sheila was raised and attended school in Marquette. The former Sheila Faye Whitelaw married Kenneth “Mike” Holmes on July 2, 1984. Together, the couple shared nearly 35 years of marriage. Sheila loved her dogs and any and all animals. In their free time, Mike and Sheila enjoyed camping at various places. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Sheila Faye Holmes is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Mike” Holmes of Arnold; 3 sisters, Lisa (Paul) Withey of Park Falls, WI, Mary (Leigh) Brinker of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and Debbie Mohrman of Marquette; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her son, Scott; 1 brother, Jimmie Whitelaw; and 2 sisters, Cheryl Roberts, and Roberta Kangas.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Wells Township Hall in Arnold. Memorial services celebrating the life of Sheila will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, with Pastor Lewis Hague officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services at the Wells Township Hall.
