Rose V. Carlson, age 87, of 2701 1st Ave. S. in Escanaba, formerly of Stonington, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Pinecrest Medical Facility in Powers. She was born on December 14, 1930 in Escanaba, the daughter of Hans and Selma (Leadman) Lorenson. Rose grew up in Stonington and attended school in Rapid River. She graduated from Rapid River High School in 1949. The former Rose Lorenson married Richard Carlson in 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington. They resided in Des Plaines, IL where they raised their children. Richard preceded her in death on December 17, 1962. In 2002, she moved back to her childhood area of Stonington where Rose resided until 2014 when she moved to Escanaba. Rose was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington and also Christ the King Lutheran Church of Escanaba. She enjoyed living in Stonington and spending time with her grandchildren. Rose was an animal lover – especially for her 4 dogs, Chikki, Andy, Ole, and Buddy. She had a big heart and will be deeply missed by many.
Rose V. Carlson is survived by daughter, Georgiana (John Garaham) Carlson of Glen Ellyn, IL; two sons, Dusty (Ginny) Carlson of Crystal Lake, IL, and Joseph (Lisa) Sutton of Woodbridge, VA; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Larsen, Evelyn Kolli, and Hawaina Johnson; and one brother, Wallace Lorenson.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Rose V. Carlson will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington with Pastor Diane Srutowski and Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow the memorial services in Lakewood Cemetery in Stonington. A luncheon will be served afterward in the Stonington Community Hall.
