Nora M. Sarasin, age 91, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday morning, February 25, 2018 at home surrounded by family and under the care of OSF Home Health and Hospice. Nora was born May 21, 1926 in Escanaba to Dona and Irene (Toupin) Marenger and was raised in Flat Rock. In 1946, Nora married Raymond Sarasin and together had two children, Allen and Linda. Both Allen and Raymond preceded her in death; Raymond in 1984 and Allen in 2014. Nora was a personnel supervisor at SS Kresge Corporation where she worked many years before retiring from Kmart. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, bowling, sewing, and crocheting. Nora loved spending time with the family. She was a volunteer at OSF St. Francis Hospital and at various church events. She always had a willingness to help others.
Nora M. Sarasin is survived by daughter, Linda Sarasin of Marquette; daughter-in-law, Kristine (Peterson) Sarasin; granddaughters, Tina (Eric) Lindstrom, Heidi Sarasin, and Heather (LeRoy) Rice; sister, Della (Lester) Pepin; as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Allen; and grandson, Richard Sarasin who passed away in 2006. In addition, her brothers, Raymond LaMarche, Kenneth “Buck” Marenger, Israel “Izzy” Marenger, Clayton “PeeWee” Marenger, and Norbert “Butch/Sparky” Marenger.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Nora will follow at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, with Father Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will be served afterward in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
