Michael S. Johnson, 49, of Boise, Idaho, formerly of Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at home following a lengthy illness. Michael was born on May 20, 1968 and grew up in Escanaba, Michigan. He was the son of Ralph and the late Barbara (VanEffen) Johnson. He graduated from Escanaba Area High School in 1986.
Following his graduation from Northern Michigan University, Michael started his career at Boise Cascade. While living in Boise, he met Sheri Hopt. They married in 1998 and settled in Appleton, Wisconsin where they started a family and he enjoyed a successful IT career. The family recently returned to Boise. Michael enjoyed skiing, NASCAR, his pets, and attending his children’s baseball, soccer, and dance activities. To know Michael was to love him. He made everyone feel special and would, literally, give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.
In addition to his wife, Sheri, Michael also leaves behind three children, McKenna, Nathan, and Logan of Boise, Idaho; his father, Ralph Johnson of Escanaba; grandpa, Kermit (Ar) Johnson of Escanaba; a sister, Michelle (Dennis) Dallaire of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Sally Hopt; brother-in-law, John (Marianne); and sister-in-law, Michelle Keller.
