Mary Olive (Morrow) Carlson, age 99, of Arlington, MA, passed away on September 21, 2019 at her home. She resided in Arlington the last 20 years, living close to her daughter, Jane Meyer. Before this time, she lived in Escanaba, MI with her husband, Melvin Carlson, until his death on January 2, 1998. Olive was born on April 29, 1920, the daughter of Lloyd and Naomi Morrow of Glasgow, PA. On December 15, 1945, Olive married Carl Melvin Carlson and moved to Escanaba at this time. Olive and Mel had two daughters, Lois and Jane and were married for 52 years. Olive worked at the Red Owl Bakery and Buckbee, but most of her time was spent in that most important job of homemaker, wife, and mother.
Olive is survived by her two daughters, Lois (Alan) Filipski of Tempe, AZ, and Jane (Bruce) Meyer of Arlington, MA; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Everett (Betty) Morrow of PA; 8 nieces; and 5 nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; granddaughter, Rachael Jane; 3 sisters, Alverta (Gene) Lovell, Marie (Ray) Benn, and Beatrice (Earl) Myers; and 1 brother, George (Rose) Morrow.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Olive Carlson will follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bo Lange officiating. Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery immediately following the services. All are welcome.
