Margaret J. Jennings, age 93, of Ford River, passed away Tuesday evening, February 19, 2019 at home, surrounded by family. She was born on July 1, 1925 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Francis and Helen (Bradbeer) Schneider. Margaret was raised in Detroit and graduated from high school in 1943. The former Margaret Schneider married Ronald Jennings, and he preceded her in death in 1982. Together, the couple shared many years of marriage. Margaret was employed as a manager at First National Bank for many years. In 1978, Margaret and Ron relocated their family to Ford River. The couple had the opportunity to purchase the Log Jam Bar in Ford River, which they owned and operated from 1978 until 1985. After Ron passed away, Margaret was employed at Walmart for 16 years until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, fishing on Lake Michigan, and going to the casino. Margaret loved spending time with family, her Walmart buddies, and dear friends, Ann Johnson and Judy Woodard. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Margaret J. Jennings is survived by sons, Donald (Sandy) Mlostek of Escanaba, and Ronald E. Jennings, Jr. of Ford River; 7 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Donna) Schneider of North Fort Myers, FL, Richard (Lorraine) Schneider of Detroit, and John Schneider of Escanaba; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Robert Jennings; and 3 brothers, William Schneider, Douglas Schneider, and Larry Schneider.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Margaret will follow at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Emmett Norden officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services at the Ford River Pub. Burial will take place in the West Ford River Cemetery.
