Lydia E. Wheaton

Lydia E. Wheaton, age 71, of Grand Rapids, MI (formerly of Escanaba), passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She was born on January 21, 1948 in Gladstone, MI, the daughter of John and Nellie. Lydia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, and going to the casino. She also loved to paint various items to give to her family and friends.

Lydia is survived by one brother, Russell (Andy) Wright of Fremont, MI; grandchildren, Casey (James) Ketterman of Gladstone, MI, Benjamin Willis of Grand Rapids, MI, Tiffany (Dylan) Couillard of Escanaba, MI, Shawna Wheaton (Joey Lucier) of Escanaba, MI, and Alex and Ricky Wheaton of Pickford, MI; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Rodgers of Escanaba, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Lydia was preceded in death by 3 husbands; and 4 deeply missed children, Charlie, Richard, Jennie, and Marjorie.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lydia will follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tony Morrison officiating. A luncheon and reception will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Harbor Tower in Escanaba.
