Leonard B. Arrowood, age 85, of 2000 10th Ave. South in Escanaba, passed away Monday evening, November 20, 2017 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. He was born on September 12, 1932 in Manistique, the son of Ralph and Beatrice (Lanora) Arrowood. Leonard grew up in Manistique and graduated from Manistique High School in 1950. Following graduation in 1951, Leonard began his life-long career for the American Steamship Company. He worked on the ore boats as a chief engineer until his retirement in 1994. Leonard married the former Dora M. Botrow on August 14, 1957 in Escanaba and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2007. Together, the couple shared 47 years of marriage and raised three sons. Leonard enjoyed many aspects that the outdoors had to offer – especially spending time on his boat fishing or out in the woods snowmobiling. He loved being with his family and watching his grandchildren.

Leonard B. Arrowood is survived by sons, Jim Arrowood of Escanaba, and Dave Arrowood of Daggett; 4 grandchildren, Courtney, Jessica, Derek, and Kaylin; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Chartier of Manistique; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by one step-son, Len Case; and sister, Ruth Lynts.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Leonard will follow at 1:00 p.m., Monday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Grant officiating. A luncheon will be served afterward in the Anderson Funeral Home fellowship area. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
