Laura Jo Blazer, age 61, of N11923 State Hwy M-35 in Bark River, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at her home. She was born on August 18, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Wesley and Betty (Puhek) Bajanen. Laura grew up in the Milwaukee area until the age of 15. The family moved to Escanaba and Laura was a member of the Escanaba High School graduating class of 1973. Following high school, Laura attended Bay College, worked as a waitress at various restaurants, and also at Shopko in the receiving department. The former Laura J. Bajanen married Hal Blazer on January 8, 1977 at Calvary Baptist Church in Escanaba. The couple shared 40 years of marriage together. Laura was very artistic and creative. She owned Fox Art in Cedarville Township where she retired making her renowned hand-crocheted round rugs. Laura enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping.

Laura Jo Blazer is survived by husband, Hal Blazer of Cedarville Twp.; mother, Betty Arnold of Escanaba; sister, Susan Carlson (fiancé Norm Petersen) of Cedarville Twp.; sister-in-law, Tamara Bajanen of Ford River; brother-in-law, Gary (Mary) Blazer of Florence, WI; special Aunt June Riley of St. Germain, WI; several nieces and nephews who she loved very much; and many more beloved relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wesley Bajanen; brother, Randy Bajanen; mother-in-law; and father-in-law.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Laura will follow at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Cowan officiating. Snacks and refreshments will be served in the Anderson Funeral Home fellowship area during the visitation. Burial will take place in South Ford River Cemetery.
