Kathleen Ann Gustafson, age 70, of Gladstone, passed away Tuesday morning, July 3, 2018 at home surrounded by family. She was born on March 21, 1948 in Escanaba, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Kolich) Gustafson. Kathleen grew up in Rapid River and was a 1966 graduate of Rapid River High School. She went on to further her education at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. Kathleen always had a love for healthcare and began her nursing assistant career at a local nursing home. She branched off and worked as an independent home health care nursing assistant for over 35 years until her retirement. Kathleen was able to care for many well-known people in the area while keeping them comfortable in their own home. She was a very dedicated hard worker who always put others before herself. Kathleen loved everything the outdoors had to offer. She loved to kayak, go on picnics, shopping, and take road trips around the Upper Peninsula. Kathleen enjoyed playing with home décor. She would often go out in the woods in her backyard and find various items to decorate her interior home with. Kathleen was very creative and had a knack for making simple things look absolutely beautiful.
Kathleen A. Gustafson is survived by one son, Erik Klarstrom of Gladstone; three daughters, Katie (Kevin) Kleitsch of Ann Arbor, MI, Ingrid (Michael) Olagbegi of Indianapolis, IN, and Allison Shedore of Green Bay, WI; two grandchildren, Camden Kleitsch, and Summer Grace Olagbegi; sister, Michelle (Don) Hammond of Dallas TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Catherine Gustafson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba with vigil services at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Father Jamie Ziminski officiating. Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
