Julie K. Stevenson, of Hermansville, MI, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the age of 61 after battling cancer. Born in Escanaba, MI, to Fred and Marilyn Tucker, Julie, was a 1975 graduate of Escanaba High School. While raising her family, she earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Northern Michigan University. Julie found immense pride in giving back to her community as a social worker and dedicated her career to caring for vulnerable children and adults. She retired in 2017 after nearly 28 years of public service. Julie enjoyed watching her family compete in various athletic events, spending time camping and traveling, snowmobiling, and sewing.
Julie K. Stevenson is survived by her husband, Jeffery Stevenson; her son, Matthew Vandeville (Julie); her daughter, Sarah Waidner (William); step-daughter, Rachel Stevenson; four grandchildren, Richelle, Sherry, Stephen, and Andrew; one step-granddaughter, Tessa; her brother, David Tucker (Elizabeth); sister, Jeanne Anderson; two nephews, Joshua, and Jacob; and two nieces, Jordyn, and Alexis.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. A celebration of Julie’s life will follow at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Ottis and Rev. Nora Smith officiating. A meal will be served following the services in the Anderson Funeral Home fellowship area. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance.
