Josephine Lucas Obituary

Josephine A. Lucas, age 88, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday evening, March 8, 2018 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. She was born on Oct. 22, 1929 in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Augusta and Caroline (Pedrazzini) Shurber. Josephine grew up in Pontiac, Mich. where she attended and graduated from high school. She lived most of her adult life in Escanaba. She was employed for over 20 years at JC Penney in Escanaba where she created many wonderful memories. Josephine volunteered at North Central Elementary School in Powers and was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Escanaba. She loved to travel and see various places and spend her free time on the golf course.

Josephine is survived by sons, Mike (Rachelle Nyitray) Lucas of Saline, Mich., and Chester Shaw; grandchildren, Tony Lucas, Jimmy Lucas, Tommy Lucas, Kara Nyitray, Lauren Nyitray, and Kyle Nyitray; brother, Augusta, Jr. (Mary) Shurber; and niece Theresa Shurber.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Augusta and Caroline Shurber.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in lower Michigan.
