Douglas Paul Gawne, 77, of Gladstone, MI, passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 due to heart complications. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by family members at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born in Bloomfield Township, MI to Douglas and Helen (Frisch) Gawne. Doug married Diana Korman in 1962 and raised three children; Kristi, James and Rebecca. Doug was remarried to Cindy (Kossow) in 1987. His wife Cindy, preceded Doug’s passing on September 1st, 2019.
Doug was very athletic and set several high school records in track that went unbroken for many years. He also was an accomplished moto trials rider with a Michigan State Championship in 1971. Doug enjoyed playing music and entertaining people throughout his life. He was a member of a classic country music group for many years and he also played at nursing homes as a solo performer. Doug loved the outdoors and embraced all of life’s adversities with optimism. He will be sorely missed.
Doug is survived by his three children, Kristi Haid, James Gawne of Oxford, MI, and Rebecca O’Boyle of Cape Coral, FL; and his siblings, Margaret, Henry, Mary, Marilyn, and Timothy.
A celebration of Doug’s life will take place at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1950 S. Baldwin Rd., Lake Orion, MI 48360 on October 5, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Perkins Cemetery in Perkins, MI.
