Dorothy L. Hansen, age 94, of Escanaba, went on to meet her reward Friday afternoon, January 19, 2018 at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. She was born on December 2, 1923 in Escanaba, one of sixteen children born into the family of Thomas and Anna (Novosel) Krassick, who moved here from Yugoslavia. Dorothy had attended Wells grade school and Escanaba Jr. High School. She enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII on February 29, 1944 and served until she was honorably discharged on November 13, 1944. Dorothy was a very hard worker and lived her life to the fullest. She held several jobs both locally and out of state. Some of which include; Perfex Corp. in Kingsford; Norway Canning; Fly Factory of Escanaba; Freeman Furniture Factory; Bayview Glove Factory in Escanaba; Hoyer Ice Cream Factory in Escanaba; and Lapcor Plastics in Manitowoc, WI. Dorothy will be missed by those close to her, but her smile and laughter will remain with us.

Dorothy L. Hansen is survived by many nieces, nephews, and relatives of Escanaba, Kansas City, KS, and in Yugoslavia.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by three husbands, and her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military Honors will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Delta County Veteran’s Council. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba with Father Eric Olson officiating. Burial will take place in the spring of the year in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gary and Julie Sexton at Sunnyview Assisted Living for the exceptional care they provided for Dorothy. Also, thank you to the wonderful staff of doctors and nurses at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain for the outstanding care they continuously provided for Dorothy.
