Charlotte O. Bruff, age 91, of Escanaba, passed away early Thursday morning, January 17, 2019 at Christian Park Healthcare Center in Escanaba. She was born on December 1, 1927 in Oakland, MO, the daughter of Wilber and Mildred (Allman) Egner. Charlotte grew up in Missouri and was a 1945 graduate of Webb City High School. The former Charlotte Egner married Theodore Steven Bruff, Jr. in 1945 in Webb City, MO and he preceded her in death in 1997. Together, the couple shared 52 years of marriage and raised two children, Gregg and Stephanie. Charlotte took great pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family. Charlotte went back to college and received her Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education in 1967 from Southwest Missouri State College. While living in Springfield, MO, she taught 3rd grade before moving to Little Rock, AR in 1978 where she taught 4th grade. Charlotte had a love for teaching children and specialized in reading. Two years ago, she moved to Escanaba, MI. Charlotte enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband, cooking delicious meals, spending time with family, and watching birds. She always appreciated the little things in life. Charlotte and Steve were active docents at Cox Medical Center while living in Nixa, MO. and were honored for their many devoted hours of volunteering.
Charlotte O. Bruff is survived by son, Gregg (Mimi) Bruff of Escanaba; daughter, Stephanie Bruff of Waterville, ME; four grandchildren, Amelia Auner-Montgomery, Leslie Smarjie, Keelin Johnson, and Meredith Herr; two sisters, Colleen Bair of Indianapolis, IN, and Gloria Jester of Lee Summit, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by infant sister, Yvonne Egner.
Private family funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
