Betty June Erickson

Betty June Erickson, age 88, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday evening, January 21, 2018 at Soderman’s Adult Foster Care Home in Gladstone. She was born on June 29, 1929 in Perkins, MI, the daughter of Edwin and Sadie (Connett) Johnson. Betty grew up in the Perkins area and also attended school in Perkins. On April 6, 1950, the former Betty June Johnson married her childhood friend, Robert M. Erickson, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2014. Together, the couple shared 63 years of marriage together. Betty enjoyed spending time at their camp in Perkins since 1968. She also enjoyed the little things in life, especially the beauty of gardening. Betty was a founding member of the Kennedy School for handicapped children.

Betty June Erickson is survived by daughters, Beatrice and Barbara Erickson of Escanaba; son, Robert M. (Connie) Erickson, Jr. of Yuma, AZ; grandson, Robbie (Dawn) Erickson of Baltimore, MD; and great-grandson, Noah Erickson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by grandson, Nathaniel Erickson; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty will follow at 1:00 p.m., Friday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Emmett Norden officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
