Wendell “Pat” A. Sundling, age 73, of 9572 JJ.5 Road in Isabella, passed away Thursday evening, January 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 10, 1944 in Escanaba, the son of Wendell E. and Elsie (Gorman) Sundling. Pat grew up in Isabella and graduated from Nahma High School in 1961. After graduation, he moved to Chicago and attended a trade school where he received a machinist certificate. Pat was employed as a machinist in Gladstone for many years. On October 23, 1971, Pat married the former Sandra Aldrich at Bethany Lutheran Church in Isabella and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2002. Together, the couple shared 31 years of marriage. In 1977, he moved back to his childhood area of Isabella where he owned and operated a dairy farm until his retirement. Pat enjoyed everything that the outdoors had to offer, especially hunting, fishing, and logging. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. One of his favorite hobbies included wood carving. Pat was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Isabella.
Wendell “Pat” Sundling is survived by 3 sons, Andy (Jana) Moore of Isabella, John (LeeAnn) Moore of Isabella, and Luke Sundling of Isabella; 7 grandchildren; sister, Gloria (Steve) Johnson of Wells; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Pat was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Groleau.
Memorial graveside services will be held in the spring of the year at Moss Lake Cemetery in Isabella.
