Richard L. Pierce, age 79, of 3877 St. Nicholas Road in Rock, MI, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at U.P. Health System - Marquette. He was born on August 25, 1938 in in Chicago, IL, the son of William and Helen (Cavanaugh) Pierce. He married the former Mary Chouinard and she preceded him in death on November 27, 2002. Richard was self-employed all of his working years as a carpenter in the Chicago area until his retirement. In 2002, he moved to Rock, MI. He was strong in his Catholic faith and was a Third-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed everything the outdoors had to offer; especially hunting and fishing.

Richard Pierce is survived by three sons, Lawrence Pierce of Cornell, MI, William (Colleen) Pierce of Saukville, IL, and Thomas Pierce of Cornell, MI; one daughter, Theresa Pierce of Lynwood, IL; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas and William; one sister, Shirley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Richard Pierce will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Emmett Norden officiating. Burial will take place in the spring of the year in the Escanaba Township Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.
