Mary J. Defino, age 67, of Powers, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 16, 2017 at UP Health System – Marquette surrounded by family. She was born on November 2, 1950 in Burlington, VT, the daughter of Gillis and Eliza (Knight) Simard. Mary lived in various places throughout the United States during her lifetime and retired as a registered nurse. A few years ago, she moved to the Escanaba area to be closer to family. Mary made an impact on each life she touched. She could make anyone laugh and lighten the mood of any situation. Her life motto was, “It is what it is.”

Mary is survived by two daughters, Amanda Kooren Cramer of Westfield, MA, and Amy (Jason) Hall of Escanaba; two grandsons, Andrew Cramer, and Izzek Hall; seven sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
