Lorraine M. Froberg

Lorraine M. Froberg, age 91, formerly of 1531 South 30th St. in Escanaba, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba. 

Lorraine was born September 16, 1925 at the family home in Flat Rock to George and Agnes (Chenier) King. She attended Carrol’s Corner School as a child. On May 24, 1947 she married John Froberg in Chicago, IL. Together they shared 60 years of marriage. 

All had a nickname in their family of ten. She was known as “little spit” for her vibrant personality. She was a homemaker, catered weddings and special events, and worked at the lunch counter at City Drug Store in Escanaba. Lorraine was an excellent cook and baker, crocheted many afghans, and loved a good puzzle book. She and her husband, John, were also avid vegetable gardeners. Many knew her for her home canned items, fresh baked breads, but mostly her famous pasties. 

Lorraine M. Froberg is survived by grandchildren, Mike Bonifas, Jr., Eric Froberg, Jr., John (Kate) Froberg, and Sally Froberg; daughter-in-law, Karen Froberg; great-grandchildren, Trentin and Jackson Bonifas, and Zachary Froberg; brothers, Lawrence King, Richard King, John (Phyllis) King; sister-in-law, Florence King; many nieces and nephews; Dr. Myrick; nurses; CNA’s; and resident friends of the Christian Park Village who provided excellent care and a loving environment the past few years. 

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2007; son, Eric Froberg; daughter, Kathy Bonifas; sisters, Rose (Charles) Wheatley, and Dorothy (Patrick) Lafave; brothers, Henry (Anna Mae) King, Francis (Rosalie) King, Donald King, and Robert King; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou King, Mary Hoffman, and Julie King, Menette Froberg, and Mary Alice Froberg; brothers-in-law, Miles Froberg, and Tom Froberg; in-laws, Eric and Menette Froberg; caretaker, Jules McKracken; and best friend, Arlene Rusha.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Joseph/St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph/St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Eric Olson officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
