Lily I. Howe, age 93, of 801 South 13th St. in Escanaba, passed away Friday afternoon, December 1, 2017 at OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group in Escanaba. She was born on February 22, 1924 in Escanaba, the daughter of Per and Wilma (Olsson) Pearson. Lily grew up in Escanaba and was a member of the Escanaba High School Graduating Class of 1942. She went on to attend Cloverland College in Escanaba. The former Lily Pearson married William “Bill” Howe on August 10, 1945 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2017. Together, the couple shared 71 years of marriage and raised two sons. Lily worked at State Bank of Escanaba for a few years. She and Bill moved to Manistique where she was employed at State Savings Bank. They moved back to Escanaba in 1975. Lily enjoyed playing bridge and golfing at the Escanaba Country Club, and while residing in Manistique she was a member of the Indian Lake Country Club. Lily was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Escanaba. She had a deep love for her family and took great pride in raising her sons. Lily will be missed by so many.

Lily I. Howe is survived by son, David (Patti) Howe of Fort Myers, FL; two grandchildren, Thomas (Kim) Howe, and Liza (Mike) Safford; three great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd (Lafon) Pearson of Horseshoe Bay, TX; sister, Hazel Schmidt of Sun City, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lily was preceded in death by son, Bill, Jr. on February 20, 2017; and brother, Gunnar Pearson.

Private funeral services will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.
