Kenneth R. Peterson, age 82, of 2138 22nd Ave. South in Escanaba, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at UP Health System - Marquette. He was born December 1, 1934 in Bark River, MI, the son of Randolph and Agnes (Dorman) Peterson. Ken received his GED in 1952 and then joined the U.S. Navy as an aviation boatswain mate. He traveled around the world with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On April 5, 1958 Ken married the former Carol J. Bressette in Marquette. Ken was employed as a district supervisor for Michigan Bell/Ameritech for 34 years until his retirement on January 30, 1990. He lived in Marquette, Charlevoix and Escanaba. Ken was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, American Legion Post #44, Amvets Post #123, life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Escanaba Flying Club, board of directors of the U.P. Trans Community Federal Credit Union, Kiwanis Club, Poker Club, and was a volunteer and contributor to many local charities and organizations. Ken was an avid bowler, hunter, fisherman, and Green Bay Packer fan. He loved flying his own airplane, traveling, outdoors, golfing, reading, playing softball, going to camp in Dodge City (Big Bay), camping, bird hunting, gardening and he was a jack of all trades. Ken, with his granddaughter Kendall, were honored to take the U.P. Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2014.

Seven Great Grandchildren 
Sister- Betty Nault of Negaunee 
Brother- Phil (Barb) Peterson of Gladstone
Several Nieces and Nephews

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Randy; and sisters, Shirley and Janet.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Kenneth R. Peterson will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Fran DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the St. Anne Catholic Church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette.
