Joyce L. Severinsen, age 87, of 4728 17th Road in Escanaba, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, June 23, 2017 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone. She was born on August 25, 1929 in Iron Mountain, the daughter of Irving and Adeline (Cattelan) Schuls. Joyce grew up in Hardwood and attended school in Felch. The former Joyce Schuls married Albert Ronald Severinsen and he preceded her in death on December 22, 1970. She worked at the Venos Glove Factory in Escanaba and later was a homemaker. Over the years, Joyce cared for many children including; Ashley and Travis Marcotte, and Jodi Murray. Joyce was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where she served on the pasty crew. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, and caring for her yard. Her kind and compassionate nature made an impact on many.
Joyce L. Severinsen is survived by daughter, Sandra (Neil) Botwright of Escanaba; 3 sisters-in-law, Wanda Severinsen of Escanaba, Luella Severinsen of Milwaukee, and Pat McGovern of Chicago; several nieces and nephews; and grand puppy, Angel.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by brother, David Shuls; and infant sister.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will be served afterward in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
