Jeanette Marion Flath, age 90, of Escanaba, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 30, 2018 at Cedar Hill Assisted Living in Bark River. She was born on July 26, 1927, the daughter of Wallace and Lula Belle (Moore) Starrine. Jeanette grew up in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1946. The former Jeanette Starrine married Warren Flath on April 12, 1947 in Marinette, WI and together they raised four children. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2007. Throughout the years, Jeanette worked at various places including; Lou’s Beauty Shop, The Fair Store, LeCaptain’s, The Family Tree, and as a teacher’s aid and exercise instructor at the Escanaba Civic Center. Jeanette enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, knitting, crocheting, puzzles, and gardening. She was an active member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba.
Jeanette M. Flath is survived by son, Russell (Deanna) Flath; daughters, Linda Gibson, and Trisha (Mark) Backlund; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanette was preceded in death by son, Leslie Flath; and brothers, Richard, Louis, Vaughn, and Harold Starrine.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Jeanette will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Doletzky officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in the spring of the year. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Cedar Hill Assisted Living, U.P.
